Abstract

This study explores two important issues in the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Program, namely the potential risk of food poisoning in the school environment, as well as the role of disinformation dynamics and algorithmic bias in shaping public discourse in the digital space. MBG was launched in January 2025 as a strategic policy to reduce stunting rates and improve children's nutritional status. However, its implementation has experienced great difficulties due to the occurrence of cases of food that make people sick and public perceptions that are divided due to the existence of incorrect information circulating. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with case study methods, analyzing policy documents, online media news, and user interaction on social media platforms. The theoretical framework used includes Exposure Selection Theory and the concept of echo chamber space. The results show that weaknesses in food safety governance contribute to the incidence of poisoning, while disinformation amplified by social media algorithms widens negative narratives and increases the polarization of public opinion. These findings show how important it is to improve food safety standards, provide information to the public honestly and openly, ensure algorithms work fairly and accountably, and increase public knowledge about digital technology, so that the MBG program can continue to run smoothly and sustainably.
